Yogic Guide to Being Human Workshops

We are delighted to invite you on a journey of exploration, discovery and reconnection as we dive deeply into the human experience and delve into how we can use ancient wisdom and practices to thrive in our daily lives.

The demands and challenges of modern life can often leave us feeling discomfort in our bodies, anxious in our minds or disconnected from our inherent wisdom. Life can feel like ricocheting between high and low energy and drawing on reserves of will-power to keep pushing forwards, even in the face of fatigue and challenges with physical or mental health.

This workshop series has been designed to blend 2600 years of yogic wisdom with what we are learning about the mind-body connection through modern science and research. Through these sessions, you will learn easy-to-implement practices and techniques for reducing pain, balancing energy and calming the mind, and the underpinning mechanisms for change that support these. You will also explore subtle practices for connecting with your inherent wisdom and sense of inner bliss, peace and harmony.

The Yogic Guide to Being Human is structured based on the Kosha model that conceives of the Human Being as consisting of 5 separate, yet interconnected layers; physical, energetic, mental, wisdom and bliss. Each of the 5 layers are explored via five half-day workshops. The workshops have been designed to work synergistically with themes and practices weaving across the series, though each workshop can also stand alone for anyone not able to attend the whole series.

About the Workshops

1) Physical layer: Befriending our bodies – Saturday 8th March 2025

We begin with an exploration of the densest and most material level of our being; our physical bodies. During this workshop we will explore the concept and experience of embodiment, how we can work skilfully and compassionately with experiences of pain and inflammation and the impact of stress and other life events on our physical bodies. We will also learn techniques for grounding into our bodies, creating a greater sense of ease and lightness and learning to listen to the whispers of the body and the wisdom it imparts. 2) Energy layer: Cultivating energetic balance – Saturday 19th April 2025

Our second workshop moves to a subtler level of our experience; our energy body. We will explore both yogic and Chinese medicine models for the structure and flow of energy and how physical, mental and emotional experiences can result in us feeling stuck, stagnant or overly wired. We will explore how balancing our energies can support with our moods, our vitality and improving sleep. We’ll also learn a range of different practices that can be used to help us to calm when overactivated and uplift us when we’re feeling low. Click here to book this workshop.

3) Mental layer: Stilling fluctuations of our minds - Saturday 17th May 2025

In this workshop we move to our mental experience and explore the yogic models of the mind and how they both align with and converge from Western medicine’s diagnostic model of mental health conditions. We will explore ways of supporting the mind to gravitate back towards its naturally peaceful state and discuss why this can be such a challenge! We’ll learn practices that we can do in the moment when anxiety or worry take over, as well as things we can do on a regular basis to create more spaciousness and peace within our minds. 4) Wisdom layer: Listening to the wisdom within – Saturday 28th June 2025

Continuing our journey to the subtler levels of being, we move next to our wisdom body. Much less loud and fearful than our minds, our wisdom body offers us a wider perspective on the things that unfold in our lives and a sense of how daily experiences contribute to the bigger picture. We will explore ancient wisdom teachings that guide us to this element of ourselves and consider how this can be expressed by modalities like art, dance and poetry. Click here to book this workshop.

5) Bliss layer: Coming home to our Self – Saturday 26th July 2025

Our final workshop drops us into the most subtle level of all; our bliss body. This workshop offers an opportunity for integration of the other 4 layers, leading to an experiential practice of connecting with our true Self and exploring the qualities of this element of our being. We will see how each of the layers is an essential and important part of the human experience and how inviting more bliss into our lives can support us on every dimension.
